End of Watch

The end of watch. I have been reading Stephen King, non-stop, since December 13th, 2011. It took me under 5 years to read every published book. I guess it is fitting that I end with a book titled End of Watch.

**Spoilers ahead***

This is the 3rd and final book in the Bill Hodges/Mr. Mercedes trilogy. I enjoy my favorite author and the way that he weaves a story and this one was more like Stephen King than the other (to me). The element that seems to be present in 95% of his novels is the supernatural, but it was missing from the other two.

In this one, that supernatural element drives the story. Mr. Mercedes, the baddie from the first of the trilogy, has the power to control minds and invade bodies with the aid of a tablet. The story happens over 4 days, with flashbacks to fill in the blanks, as Bill and his business partner, Holly, unravel Mr. Mercedes' plot to drive teens and young adults to suicide by invading their minds and planting seeds.

I won't spoil the ending for you, but given that it is a trilogy, you might have figured out that we won't be seeing Bill again. It was a touching ending, but I am not too sad that Bill's watch has ended.
